Trump’s Final Warning To Putin: End Ukraine War In 12 Days Or Face Severe Sanctions
U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a sharp ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, demanding an end to the war in Ukraine within “10 to 12 days” or face sweeping new U.S. sanctions and trade tariffs.
Speaking during a meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer on July 28 at one of his Scottish golf resorts, Trump expressed growing impatience with Moscow’s continued aggression.
“I’m setting a new deadline—about ten or twelve days from today. There’s no point in waiting any longer,” Trump said, signaling that a formal announcement could come as early as July 29. This move dramatically shortens the original 50-day grace period he offered Putin on July 14, which would have expired on September 2.
“I’ve tried to be generous, but there’s been no progress,” Trump added. “If nothing changes, we’ll roll out tough sanctions—and possibly secondary tariffs targeting any country doing business with Russia.”
The president warned that the U.S. is prepared to take aim at not just Russia, but also its global trade partners, should Putin refuse to de-escalate. “He’s got to make a deal. Too many people are dying. This is a bloody war,” Trump said bluntly.
During the early months of his second term, Trump blamed both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the drawn-out conflict that erupted in 2022 with Russia’s invasion. But recently, Trump has shifted his focus squarely onto Putin.
He accused the Russian leader of feigning interest in peace during private talks, only to continue launching deadly missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities.
“You’d think, using basic common sense, that he’d want to end this,” Trump remarked. “We’ll find out soon enough.”
