Katsina Declares Monday Work-Free To Mourn Late President Buhari
The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, a public holiday to allow residents mourn the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in a UK clinic on the evening of Sunday, July 13.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari.
In a heartfelt statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed deep sorrow over Buhari’s death, extending condolences to the late president’s family, the people of Katsina, and the entire nation. He described Buhari as "a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman who devoted his life to the service of Nigeria."
Governor Radda also offered prayers, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to show mercy on Buhari’s soul, forgive his shortcomings, and reward his lifetime of service with Aljannatul Firdaus.
Buhari’s body is expected to arrive in Nigeria later today and will be laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
