Trump Accuses Biden Administration Of Tampering With Epstein Case Files
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has alleged that the Biden administration may have inserted his name into criminal case files related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
During a joint press briefing in Scotland alongside British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Trump dismissed the renewed uproar over Epstein’s case as “a hoax blown way out of proportion.” He went on to claim that key figures in the Biden administration may have manipulated the infamous files for political gain.
“Those files were controlled by the worst scum on Earth—Comey, Garland, Biden—all of them,” Trump said on Monday. “They ran the government, even the auto pen. If there was anything real in those files, I assume it would have been released long ago.”
Trump’s remarks come a week after a Wall Street Journal report claimed that federal officials had informed him his name appeared in some of the Epstein case documents.
The controversy intensified following a July memo from the Department of Justice, which asserted that there was no so-called “client list” tied to Epstein and that no further information would be released. This decision sparked backlash across the political spectrum, with both Democrats and Republicans demanding greater transparency.
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi had previously indicated that officials were still reviewing related documents. The DOJ’s conclusion has since led to renewed suspicion and frustration among Trump’s supporters.
Trump further suggested on Monday that political opponents might have planted fabricated evidence in the files, likening it to the unverified and now-infamous Steele dossier compiled during the 2016 election.
“Christopher Steele wrote what we call the fake news dossier—completely made up. They could easily do the same with these files,” Trump warned. “They were run by bad, sick people.”
The former president’s statements have reignited debate over the handling of the Epstein investigation and the lingering mystery surrounding its sealed contents.
