“I Don’t Need Permission To Visit Any Part Of Nigeria” - Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has responded firmly to remarks made by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who suggested that Obi must seek clearance before visiting Edo State.

Speaking in Onitsha during a ₦50 million donation ceremony to his alma mater, Christ the King College (CKC), Obi stated clearly that he is not afraid to visit any part of Nigeria, especially when the purpose is to contribute to national development.

> “I am not afraid of visiting any state in Nigeria, particularly when the purpose is to support causes that contribute to nation-building, such as education, health, and poverty alleviation,” Obi declared.

The ₦50 million cheque, presented alongside other CKC alumni, is aimed at boosting infrastructure and learning facilities at the historic institution, which was founded in 1932. CKC boasts a distinguished list of alumni, including Dr. Peter Odili (former Rivers State governor), and fellow former Anambra governors Willie Obiano and Peter Obi himself.

Obi criticized attempts to politicize his recent visit to Benin City, clarifying that his trip had no political undertones but was focused on improving healthcare in the state.

> “I went to Benin to invest in a better life for the people. If they have good doctors and nurses, life will be better for them,” he said.

> “What I expect the governor to do is to complement efforts aimed at improving society.”

Obi’s message was clear: no leader should hinder efforts geared toward nation-building, regardless of political affiliations.
