‘Nip/Tuck’ Star Julian McMahon Dies At 56 After Battle With Cancer

Actor Julian McMahon, best known for his leading role in the groundbreaking FX series Nip/Tuck and for portraying the villainous Dr. Doom in the 2000s Fantastic Four films, has passed away at the age of 56.

The sad news was confirmed in a statement shared on the official Nip/Tuck Facebook page. His wife, Kelly McMahon, also spoke with Deadline, revealing that her husband “died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.”

McMahon starred alongside Dylan Walsh in Nip/Tuck, a bold and provocative drama created by Ryan Murphy. The show followed the complex lives of two high-end plastic surgeons and ran for six critically acclaimed seasons from 2003 to 2010. It earned 18 Primetime Emmy nominations and took home one award for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup.

Simultaneously, McMahon brought Marvel’s iconic villain Dr. Victor Von Doom to life in Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), acting opposite Jessica Alba and Chris Evans. The role of Dr. Doom is set to be reimagined by Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Beyond his leading roles, McMahon left a strong mark on television with memorable performances in Charmed and Profiler. More recently, he starred in CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted and Netflix’s The Residence.

A seasoned performer whose career began in the late 1980s, the Australian-American actor continued working until recently. His final role will be seen in The Surfer, a new film starring Nicolas Cage, set for release this summer.

Julian McMahon is remembered not only for his talent and screen presence, but also for the dedication and passion he brought to every performance.
