Tragedy At Arizona Restaurant: 3 Dead, 5 Injured In Mass Shooting

Three people are dead and five others injured after a shooting erupted Sunday night, May 4, at a restaurant in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, police confirmed.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 7:45 p.m. at El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse, according to Officer Moroni Mendez of the Glendale Police Department during a press briefing.

Mendez said three victims succumbed to their injuries, while five others were hurt by either gunshots or flying shrapnel, as reported by KPHO-TV.

"Obviously, there were a lot of people here," Mendez said. "Many were attending an event. If anyone has information, please come forward. With three lives lost, we are committed to conducting a thorough and complete investigation to bring justice for the victims."

Police believe multiple shooters were involved. Although no suspects were immediately in custody, several individuals were being questioned, Mendez added.

One bystander, Lupe Rodriguez, described a harrowing escape. He said he ran for safety and was shaken but grateful he and his friends survived.

"There was a man on the ground — it didn’t look like he made it," Rodriguez recalled. "His father was shouting his name. It was heartbreaking."
