Dropout Kings Frontman 'Adam Ramey' Dies By Suicide After Battle With Addiction

Adam Ramey, lead vocalist and founding member of the rap-metal band Dropout Kings, has tragically died by suicide following a long and painful struggle with addiction. He was just days away from celebrating his 32nd birthday.

Ramey passed away on Monday, May 19, according to a GoFundMe page launched by his sister-in-law, Jamie Varner, to support his family and cover funeral expenses.

“Adam wasn’t just my brother-in-law,” Varner wrote. “He was like a real brother to me. He saved my life during one of my darkest times and was always there for the people he loved.

“He brought energy and light to every room, every family gathering, and every stage he stepped on. Watching him perform—whether at local shows in Phoenix or when he visited Tampa—was absolutely unforgettable.”

Ramey is survived by his 29-year-old wife, Jamie, and their 18-month-old son, Jude.

“Now Jamie is left grieving the love of her life while raising their baby boy alone,” Varner added. “She’s facing not only unimaginable heartbreak but also the heavy financial burden of funeral and legal costs.”

As of the morning of Wednesday, May 21, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $40,760 of its $60,000 goal.

Dropout Kings, formed in Phoenix in 2016, described its sound as a modern evolution of rap-infused rock, drawing inspiration from bands like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. Since 2018, the group has released three albums and built a loyal fanbase with tracks like “Unholy,” “Glitch Gang,” and “I Ain’t Depressed,” which have collectively garnered millions of streams.

In a heartfelt statement, Ramey’s bandmates mourned the loss of their frontman.

“Life comes at you in ways you can never predict,” they wrote. “The rollercoaster of chasing your dreams and building something with your brothers is a joy few get to truly experience—and we were beyond blessed to share that journey together as Dropout Kings.”
