JAMB 2025: Over 1.5 Million Candidates Score Below 200 As Fresh Stats Emerge
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a detailed statistical report on the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), offering new insights into candidates' performance nationwide.
According to JAMB, a total of 1,955,069 candidates sat for the 2025 UTME. Shockingly, more than 1.5 million of them scored below 200.
The data further revealed that 4,756 candidates scored above 320, while 7,658 candidates achieved scores between 300 and 319 — highlighting just how competitive the top tiers remain.
In an accompanying statement, JAMB disclosed that 40,247 underage candidates were granted special permission to take the exam, given their exceptional academic promise.
However, only 467 of these underage candidates — representing just 1.16% — managed to meet the board’s threshold for outstanding performance. JAMB noted that these candidates will still have to pass through three additional stages of assessment before their final evaluations are confirmed.
