Spotify Outage: Thousands Report Server Issues

Spotify and Artificial Intelligence

The popular music streaming platform experienced an apparent outage Tuesday morning.

Thousands of users reported Spotify is experiencing server issues on DownDetector.com on Tuesday morning, the latest outage for the popular streaming platform in recent weeks.

Key Facts

Spotify server outage reports spiked on DownDetector.com shortly after 8 a.m. EDT Tuesday morning, with more than 18,000 users reporting issues.

Server outage reports on DownDetector.com began to fall around 9 a.m. EDT, with just over 1,000 users still reporting issues at the time.

The apparent outage is the latest server disruption for Spotify, which faced multiple server issues in April and another several weeks ago, according to Spotify Status, the company’s X account that provides updates on outages.

Spotify has not yet acknowledged the outage or when a fix is expected

Why Was Spotify Down?

The company has not specified why users reported server issues Tuesday morning. In April, when Spotify faced an hours-long outage, the company denied the issues it experienced were the result of a server hack.

Key Background

Spotify is the most popular music streaming platform in the world, with more than 678 million monthly active users and more than 268 million premium subscribers, the company said in a quarterly report to shareholders last month.
