Arsenal Legend Tomas Rosicky Recovering After Heart Scare
Arsenal icon Tomas Rosicky was rushed to intensive care last week due to a serious heart-related health scare.
The 44-year-old, now serving as the sporting director of Sparta Prague, was hospitalized after experiencing heart issues. Thankfully, he has since been discharged and is currently recovering at home, according to an official statement from the club.
In the statement, Sparta Prague said:
"Our sporting director, Tomas Rosicky, was unexpectedly admitted to the intensive care unit last Tuesday due to heart-related complications. Neither Tomas nor the club will be sharing further details at this time. Fortunately, no surgery was required. Tomas, you have our full support. We're all thinking of you."
The club also revealed that only a few close family members and top officials were initially informed of the situation.
"Given the seriousness of the matter, both Tomas and the club decided to wait until he was released into home care late last week before making a public statement."
Rosicky, who has led Sparta to two Czech league titles since taking over as sporting director in 2018, also shared a heartfelt update on his condition:
"As a player and now as a sporting director, I’ve always given everything. Unfortunately, poor lifestyle choices, a lack of physical activity, and genetic predispositions have caught up with me," Rosicky admitted.
"The good news is I’m expected to make a full recovery. However, I’m currently not in a condition to perform the demanding duties of a sporting director."
He assured fans that Sparta Prague remains in good hands:
"I’ll stay in close contact with my colleagues. We’ve always worked as a team with a clear vision and structure in place. The guys will manage things while I focus on my recovery."
Rosicky enjoyed a decade-long spell at Arsenal between 2006 and 2016, making 247 appearances for the Gunners. He retired in 2017 after a return to his boyhood club Sparta Prague and took up the sporting director role the following year.
Fans around the world continue to send their well wishes to the Czech legend as he takes time to heal.
