British Man Killed By Kenyan Presidential Motorcade Sparks Public Outrage

A British national has died in Kenya after being hit by a government vehicle that was part of President William Ruto’s motorcade.

Edgar Charles Frederick, 79, was killed on Thursday when the motorcade was heading to a public event in the capital, Nairobi.

According to police spokesperson Michael Muchiri, the driver of the government vehicle was arrested but later released on cash bail.

A spokesperson for the British High Commission confirmed that they are “liaising with the authorities” regarding the incident.

The accident has triggered outrage on social media, with many Kenyans questioning why the president’s motorcade was speeding on a busy road.

Shocking videos shared online showed Frederick lying on the tarmac, bleeding heavily from his head. The vehicle that struck him did not stop after the collision.

The presidential motorcade, which typically consists of dozens of vehicles, is known to travel at high speeds for security reasons, according to the police.

Muchiri told the BBC that Frederick had been visiting Kenya to see his sister and nephew, who live in the country. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted.
