Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson Boxing Match Rescheduled To November
KEY FACTS
The fight—which was originally supposed to be July 20—will now be Nov. 15, and will still be at the AT&T Stadium near Dallas and broadcast live globally on Netflix, Most Valuable Promotions announced Friday morning.
In a statement also released Friday, Most Valuable Promotions said they ensured the rescheduled date allowed both fighters “equal training time” while still having the event at AT&T Stadium in the middle of the Dallas Cowboys season.
Tyson said in a statement that he will resume training shortly after medical professionals discovered an “ulcer flare up” in a recent exam, and that despite the delayed date “the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out.”
Paul has also predicted a knockout in the fight, saying last month he loves and respects Tyson, “but I have to end him.”
Most Valuable Promotions said in Friday’s release that purchased tickets will be honored for the Nov. 15 date and refunds are available until July 8.
BIG NUMBER
80,000. That’s how many seats there are in AT&T Stadium, where Tyson and Paul will go head-to-head.
KEY BACKGROUND
Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions announced the fight between Tyson and Paul in March, and immediately began billing it as “a once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup” that could be “the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history.” Paul, 27, grew to popularity as a YouTube star and became a pro wrestler in 2020. He was named ESPNRingside’s knockout of the year in 2021 and had ESPNRingside’s viral moment of the year in 2022. Tyson, 57, is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous and best boxers of all time, and this fight is seen as a long-awaited comeback as he hasn’t participated in a match since 2020, when he had an exhibition match against Roy Jones.
SURPRISING FACT
The fight will take place the same night as what Most Valuable Promotions said is the “most anticipated rewatch in women’s boxing history” between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The two fights were billed as co-main events, according to ESPN, and when it was announced Tyson said “adding one of the greatest fights in women's boxing history to this unforgettable event is a true gift to fans.” In 2022, Taylor beat Serrano in the first women’s boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden.
