Kaffy Opens Up On Dating Struggles As A Single Mum

Nigerian dance queen, Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has opened up about the challenges of dating as a single mother.

Speaking as a guest on the popular podcast The Honest Bunch, the mother of two—who divorced her ex-husband, Joseph Ameh—shared how some men have rejected her simply because of her marital status and children.

“I once had a man tell me he couldn’t be in a relationship with me because I have two kids,” Kaffy revealed.
“But what makes anyone think a divorced woman who has worked on herself isn’t a better candidate? What guarantee is there that two single people today won’t end up divorced tomorrow? People keep saying, ‘I want to marry him fresh, I want to marry her fresh,’ but both of you are walking into the same statistics that say over 70% of marriages crash. You might still be part of that 70%.”

Beyond addressing stereotypes about single mothers, Kaffy also spoke about misconceptions around love and attraction.

“Do you know that those butterflies in your tummy are often a trauma response? Real love doesn’t make you anxious—it brings peace,” she explained.

With her candid reflections, Kaffy is challenging outdated beliefs about relationships, love, and the value of second chances.
