Ibom Air Passenger Cleared As Court Drops Assault And Misconduct Case

An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has discharged Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger previously accused of unruly conduct and assaulting airline and airport officials.

Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge against Emmanson after the police applied to withdraw the case.

The Airport Police Command had, on Monday, August 11, arraigned Ms. Emmanson on charges of disrupting peace aboard a flight, assaulting a crew member, and behaving in a manner capable of breaching public order. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment.

However, at today’s proceedings, Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and the airline had lost interest in pursuing the matter. Acting on instructions from police authorities, she applied for the case to be withdrawn.

The magistrate granted the application and ordered Emmanson’s immediate discharge.
