Kendrick Lamar And SZA To Light Up Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show
Kendrick Lamar isn’t just hitting the road with SZA this year—he’s also teaming up with her for one of the biggest stages in the world: the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
The rapper announced the news on Thursday via his verified social media, sharing a playful teaser video that set the internet buzzing.
In the clip, Lamar stands on a football field, casually chatting on his phone. Reflecting on the significance of the performance, he says, “You know, this field a lot bigger than people think, so that’s a must.” Moments later, he adds, “Exactly. I’ve been thinking about a guest performer,” hinting at what fans were about to discover.
Suddenly, SZA sneaks up behind him and drenches him with a massive container of blue liquid, making it clear the two superstars will be sharing the spotlight.
Lamar and SZA are no strangers to collaborating. Their recent hits include “Luther” and “Gloria” from Lamar’s surprise album GNX, and “30 for 30” from SZA’s album Lana. Fans are eager to see how their creative chemistry translates to the Super Bowl stage.
Adding to the excitement, Lamar and SZA are set to kick off a joint tour in April, shortly after the halftime show.
Super Bowl LIX will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9. The game, along with the much-anticipated halftime performance, will air on Fox at 6:30 p.m. EST.
Football and music fans alike are in for a show-stopping treat!
