YouTuber Yung Filly Charged With Serious Assault Allegations In Australia

British YouTuber and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including rape and choking a woman, following a performance in Australia. The alleged incident took place in a hotel room after a show in Perth on September 28.

The 29-year-old appeared in a Perth court on Thursday and was granted bail under strict conditions. He must remain in Western Australia, avoid any contact with the alleged victim, and is prohibited from discussing the case on social media. Barrientos was also ordered to surrender his passport, report to the police daily, and provide a surety of 100,000 Australian dollars ($67,400).

Prosecutors opposed his bail, arguing that there was a risk he might flee the state. However, Barrientos’ lawyer, Seamus Rafferty, has not yet commented on the matter.

Barrientos, who has over 1.8 million YouTube followers, is currently on tour in Australia. He was arrested in Brisbane on Tuesday and extradited back to Perth the following day. His Australian tour, which began in Perth, also included performances in Melbourne and Sydney, with Brisbane as the final stop.

Police allege that after his show at Bar1 Nightclub in Perth, promoted by MoshTix as a blend of "spontaneity, humor, and music," Barrientos assaulted a woman in her 20s in a hotel room. He now faces four counts of rape, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding the woman's breathing by applying pressure to her neck.

Barrientos launched his YouTube career in 2013 and ventured into music in 2017. He has also made several television appearances and won the MOBO Award for Best Media Personality in 2021, an accolade that honors achievements in music of Black origin.
