Countdown To The 2024 CAF Awards: African Football Stars Shine
Excitement is reaching new heights as the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony draws near. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced its nominees in the men's categories, with the prestigious event set to celebrate Africa's top football talent on December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco. Nominees for the women’s categories will be revealed soon.
In the highly anticipated African Player of the Year category, ten top players are vying for the crown. Surprisingly, reigning titleholder Victor Osimhen is not on this year's shortlist. However, Nigeria's Ademola Lookman and Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong represent their nation among the contenders. Moroccan stars Achraf Hakimi and Soufiane Rahimi are also set to compete for the coveted prize.
CAF’s other categories include Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year, each featuring ten distinguished nominees. Rising talent under the age of 21 will be honored with the Young Player of the Year award, showcasing the continent's emerging football stars.
Winners will be selected through a diverse voting panel, which includes CAF’s technical committee, team managers and captains, media professionals, and clubs involved in the Interclub competitions.
