Equatorial Guinea's Top Financial Investigator Caught in Scandal: Hundreds of Sex Tapes Revealed
Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), has been thrust into the spotlight amid one of the nation’s largest scandals. Engonga, a key figure in the fight against financial corruption, faces intense public scrutiny after a trove of over 300 explicit videos surfaced, revealing his involvement in personal encounters with multiple women, some of whom are reportedly married.
The videos, discovered during a separate fraud investigation by the country’s security authorities, allegedly depict Engonga engaging with high-profile individuals, including his brother’s wife, his cousin, and even a close family member of the President. Found in Engonga’s personal office, these recordings, reportedly made with consent, have since leaked online, creating a media frenzy.
Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema, responded to the controversy in a public statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), condemning inappropriate behavior within government spaces. He reminded citizens and officials that sexual relationships in administrative offices are strictly forbidden and warned of strict penalties for any violations.
"Given the inappropriate behavior that has circulated on social media in Equatorial Guinea recently, and reaffirming that ministries are solely for administrative work to support national development, sexual relations in offices are prohibited," Nguema emphasized. "Control mechanisms are now in place, and any future violators will face disciplinary action for indecent conduct and will be dismissed from their positions."
As head of ANIF, Engonga is responsible for overseeing investigations to curb financial malpractice within Equatorial Guinea. Despite his prominent role, this scandal has raised questions about integrity within the country’s government offices. Engonga, who is married with six children, has yet to publicly address the accusations.
The scandal continues to unfold, casting a long shadow over Equatorial Guinea's governmental and political landscape.
