Former Disney Channel child actress Skai Jackson, now 22, was arrested in West Hollywood last week after a domestic altercation at Universal Studios, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Key Facts

Jackson, who starred in the shows "Jessie" and "Bunk'd" from 2011 to 2018, was detained at Universal last Thursday after she was seen pushing someone in an altercation that was also caught on surveillance video.

Police from the sheriff’s West Hollywood station responded, reviewed the video and arrested Jackson for domestic battery (she was booked and released hours later).

No weapons were involved in the incident and the victim had no injuries, according to police.

The victim was not identified by police but TMZ and Page Six each reported the altercation was with her unnamed boyfriend.

Key Background

Jackson has been acting since she was 5 years old and made several minor on-screen appearances as a child. She first appeared on Disney in the series "Disney Monstober" in 2011, when she was 9, and was a major character in "Jesse" and its spin-off series, "Bunk'd." Since her time on Disney Channel ended, she's had roles as a TV voice actor and appeared on "Dancing with the Stars." When she was 14 years old, Jackson appeared on Time magazine's list of Most Influential Teens. She now works as an influencer with a TikTok following of 22 million and has 1.58 million subscribers on YouTube, where she posts fashion and beauty content. She does not post about her relationship on social media.

Surprising Fact

Mike Deodato, a comic book artist for Marvel, said Jackson inspired him to create the character of Riri Williams. The character first appeared in the "Invincible Iron Man" comic and is portrayed on screen by actress Dominique Thorne in the movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Thorne is expected to star as the character in a Disney+ series called "Ironheart" next year.
