Mbappé Cheers PSG’s Historic Champions League Triumph Despite Personal Heartbreak
France star and former Paris Saint-Germain standout Kylian Mbappé took to Instagram to celebrate his old team after they secured their first-ever Champions League title.
The Real Madrid forward, who left PSG for the Spanish capital last summer, praised the club’s achievement despite no longer wearing their colors.
“Finally, the big day has arrived. The win—and the style of it all! Congratulations, PSG,” Mbappé shared on his Instagram story.
It’s a bittersweet moment for the 26-year-old, who has yet to lift the Champions League trophy himself. Watching his former teammates reach that milestone must have him wondering what could have been.
Despite his departure, Mbappé still holds a special place in the hearts of his former teammates. PSG captain Marquinhos made it clear that the victory belonged to Mbappé too.
“Kylian is an incredible person, and he deserved this win as much as anyone. He went through so much with us and gave everything he had. Unfortunately, he couldn’t achieve it with us—just like [Ángel] Di María before him,” Marquinhos said after the match, according to Spanish outlet Marca.
As PSG savors its historic triumph, Mbappé’s gracious message reminds fans of the enduring bonds between teammates—even when the jersey colors change.
