Missy Elliott Reveals She Wrote a Song For Ariana Grande's Album 'Sweetener'
The details of Ariana Grande’s anticipated fourth album Sweetener are being steadily teased out ahead of its July 20 release. After Grande shared that she’d worked with Pharrell Williams and Nicki Minaj, and recently dished on Twitter that Missy Elliott was also involved in the project. Elliott then confirmed that she wrote a song for Sweetener, for which she was "humbly grateful."
Grande’s loyal fans first inquired about the pop star’s whereabouts on Tuesday (June 5) and she excitedly revealed that she was on set for another song. "Day two on set for anotha song. been thinking of u. can’t wait for u to see / hear everything. i’m screaming," Grande tweeted.
When another fan asked the 24-year-old singer to confirm the number of collaborations on Sweetener, she followed up that it was three: "P, Nicki, and Missy." That’s when Elliott hopped on her own Twitter account to thank Grande for the opportunity, complete with a fire emoji that hints the album will be worth the wait.
Grande’s recent profile in The Fader also confirmed that Elliott will make an appearance on a track called "Borderline," a full circle experience for Grande, who grew up watching Missy's iconic videos and later worked with the rapper's longtime director Dave Meyers for her video "No Tears Left to Cry."
