A docuseries highlighting the life and career of music icon James Brown is coming to A&E.
The Mick Jagger and Questlove executive produced four-part series titled “James Brown: Say It Loud” will debut in 2023 in celebration of what would have been Brown’s 90th birthday. Family, friends, collaborators, and others who worshiped the Godfather of Soul will help narrate his life story though it is unclear who production has tapped to appear in the series.
Never-before-seen footage will also help tell the story of his illustrious career and rise to fame as one of music’s most memorable acts.
Inaudible Films will be revisiting the life of Brown after previously producing the 2014 HBO doc, “Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown,” which Jagger also helped to produce. The English singer is thrilled to be a part of another documentary highlighting Brown’s greatness, calling the singer and dancer a “brilliant performer” who heavily influenced his career.
“I have always admired James and learned so much from him. I look forward to bringing the series to life,” Jagger stated.
A&E’s EVP and Head of Programming, Elaine Frontain Bryant, also shared her excitement for the mini-series, which she believes will provide viewers with an “in-depth look” into Brown’s life and the impact he left behind.
