Man sentenced to 9 months imprisonment for stealing motorcycle in Jigawa

A Chief Magistrate Court in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Bashir Abdullahi, to nine months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle valued at about N120,000.
Abdullahi was convicted and sentenced following his guilty plea to a two-count charge of trespass and theft, contrary to section 349, & 286 of Penal Code Law respectively.
A statement issued on Monday, February 28, by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, CSC Adamu Shehu, said the convict was sentenced as follows: 6 months imprisonment for trespass with fine option of N10,000 and months imprisonment with fine option of N20,000 for theft.
"Bashir Abdullahi was arrested on Thursday, 24th February, 2022 by NSCDC personnel attached to Malam Alu Agro Allied Farms at about Six o'clock in the morning when he ran out of fuel. His suspicious character prompted his arrest by the NSCDC operatives," the statement reads.
"He confessed to have stolen the motorcycle cycle (Suzuki, Blue Color) from the house of one Yusuf Ismail of Maichediya Village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. The motorcycle was valued at about N120,000."
