Strathclyde Saturday Morning League chiefs have launched a probe after an amateur football match was abandoned in the 92nd minute after the referee headbutted a fan.

 

The match between Stanley Athletic AFC and Port Glasgow United which took place in Renfrew, Renfrewshire, was abandoned after a match official lunged at the spectator on the sidelines.

The home side were winning 6-2 when the attack, which was captured on video took place. An onlooker said; 

 

“Everybody was shocked.

“The ref made his way to the sidelines and stuck the head on one of the spectators.

“The referee made his way from the pitch.

“I’ve never seen anything like that on a park before.”

 The 11-second clip of the attack shows the bald-headed referee wearing a yellow shirt charging towards the touchline before headbutting a man who appears to be in his 20s. A group of men swarm the official and he is pushed back onto the pitch before the footage cuts out.

Paisley side Stanley Athletic which sits fifth in the table four places above their bottom-placed rivals, made a social media post after the clash.

 

It read;

 

“We (just about) made it three wins in a row this morning as we were on our way to a big win over Port Glasgow, before the match was abandoned in the 92nd minute.”

 

Strathclyde Saturday Morning League Secretary Andy Bryant said: “An investigation is underway.”

While Port Glasgow United declined to comment,  Police Scotland spokeswoman said:

 

"Officers have received a report of an assault on a 21-year-old man around 12pm on Saturday, 26 February, at King George V playing fields, Renfrew. 

"Enquiries are ongoing."

NBA Suspends Canada’s Joshua Primo For 4 Games For Exposing Himself To Women

  The NBA has suspended former San Antonio Spurs guard  Joshua Primo   for four games   ... after it says it found he exposed his private parts to multiple women. The league announced the ban on Friday morning ... saying an investigation into the free agent revealed he had "engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior." NBA officials called his actions "conduct detrimental to the league." They did, however, note that they "did not find evidence that he engaged in any sexual or other misconduct apart from these brief exposures." "Primo maintains that his conduct was not intentional," the league said. Sky Sports' On-Air Mix-Up: Chelsea Players Mistakenly Introduced as Axel Disasi Instead of Noni Madueke in Carabao Cup Semifinal

 Sky Sports were left red-faced after an on-screen graphic mistakenly introduced Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as Noni Madueke on Tuesday night. The pair were both the scoresheet as the Blues thrashed Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final to boo their place at Wembley. But when Disasi spoke to Sky Sports after the game, an on-screen graphic introduced him as Madueke instead. Madueke is four years younger than his Chelsea teammate, plays in a different role and is English, while Disasi is French.
