DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince are hip-hop legends. Now the two are testing the bounds of their chemistry with a performance of their new EDM track, “Get Lit.”

The duo has released classic records like “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and “Summertime,” and famously appeared on the 1990s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air together. So seeing the two make an EDM track is interesting, to say the least. “You need the beat to make you light it up,” Smith raps as the song ratchets up the energy until the inevitable drop.

“Get Lit” is a far cry from the laid-back rap Jeff and the Prince are known for. However, it is hard to hate on the overwhelming positivity and wholesome vibes on the track. Seeing Will Smith perform any rap in a live setting is undoubtedly something to scratch off your bucket list.

Musically, Jazzy Jeff and Will have been quiet in recent years. In 2016, Jazzy Jeff teamed up with Rhymefest to form the duo JEFF and FESS. They created a song for Marvel’s latest volume of the film Black Panther, a comic book written by The Atlantic national correspondent Ta-Nehisi Coates.

The closest Will Smith has gotten to rapping as of late is cutting off the dreads of Jaden Smith, his musically inclined son. However, Will is appearing as the genie in the upcoming Aladdin live-action remake. Hopefully, we will get to see the Philadelphia rapper bust out in CGI rhymes when the movie hits theaters.
