A woman was slashed across the face in Midtown on Sunday while riding the subway with a child, officials said.
The 31-year-old woman was riding the northbound No. 5 train near Grand Central Terminal around 11 a.m. when an unknown attacker knifed her face.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic woman who was last seen wearing a red T-shirt with the number “10” on it and black leggings.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital.
Relatives of the victim react following the attack.

Cops said that the child was not hurt.
A witness who saw the victim leaving the station after the attack said she had a large, bleeding cut on her face.

ISWAP Insurgents Assassinate Village Head In Borno State, Nigeria

Suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly killed the traditional ruler of Kinnari, a remote village in Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. The brutal attack took place on the night of Friday, August 1, around 9:00 p.m., when the insurgents stormed the village and gunned down the 65-year-old village head, Goni Kinnari, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. Following the incident, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, swiftly mobilised to the area and successfully repelled the attackers. The remains of the slain traditional leader were evacuated to the General Hospital in Damasak, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
