New Yorkers are set to salute veterans with colorful parade marches throughout the city Monday.
The unofficial start of summer kicks off with two parades in Brooklyn and one in each of the city’s other boroughs except for Manhattan.
Brooklyn’s 150th Kings County Memorial Day parade along Third Ave. is one of the oldest, uninterrupted, Memorial Day parades in the U.S., according to organizers.
On Monday, it will be led by three-star general John Toolan Sr.
But the weather is expected to put a damper on the marches.
There’s an 80% chance of rain and the mercury is expected to top out at 63 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
As for the other parades, in Queens, the annual Forest Hills march down Metropolitan Ave. will be led by Army Major Michael Dunne.
Major Dunne raced to the Twin Towers on 9/11 and later helped teach the Afghan National Army.
The Staten Island celebration will begin with the 37th annual Memorial Day run at 9:30 a.m.
After the four-mile race, the 99th annual Forest Ave. Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 11:30 a.m.
The holiday salutes are not limited to parades.
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will hold its annual ceremony, which includes a three-volley rifle salute and a military flyover of the museum deck.
