THIS is the heart-stopping moment a car mounts the pavement and PLOUGHS into a teenager at 30mph.
The 17-year-old victim was walking with a group of students when the white Vauxhall Insignia accelerated towards them from a standing start in what appears to be a deliberate attack.
As the vehicle approached his pals flee, while he is hurled into the air after bouncing off the vehicle’s bonnet.
The Vauxhall, carrying two passengers, was driven between a parked car and a wall to reach the group.
The teen was left in agony outside Havering College of Further Education in Hornchurch, Essex as the vehicle drove off.
One man, who asked not to be named, said: “He started from a parked position and then accelerated and mounted the pavement and chased them down.
“It was potentially deadly, it’s very dangerous and that path is usually busy with pedestrians.
“He drove between a parked car and a wall at more than 30mph I reckon, but probably more, he missed the parked car by inches, I would have a hard time driving my van through that gap and he did it at speed.
“He used his car as a weapon, this guy needs to be taken off the streets.
“The kids were lucky, there were about six or seven of them running but they had no chance of getting away, an older person would never have got out the way, he could have easily killed them.”
The teen was rushed to hospital with cuts and bruises to his left arm and leg and was later discharged.
Detectives are hunting the driver, believed to be from the Romford area, and are treating the incident on May 15 as grievous bodily harm with intent.
The witness added: “He must have been nutty to do it, if it’s who I think it is it’s a known thug from the Romford area.
“The young lad was very very lucky to have only come away with bruises.”
A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “At 3pm on Monday, 15 May police were called to Havering College of Further Education, Ardleigh Green Road, Hornchurch.
“A white Vauxhall saloon car mounted the pavement, drove into a group of students and then left without stopping.
“London Ambulance Service attended and took a 17-year-old man to an east London hospital with cuts and bruises to his left arm and leg. He was later discharged.
“There are no other reported injuries.
“This incident is being treated as GBH with intent.
“It is not being treated as terrorist related.
“Enquires continue. No arrests have been made.”
