Tragedy In Katsina: Military Airstrike Kills Six Family Members After Clash With Bandits
A family of six was tragically k!lled after a military airstrike struck Yauni community in Zakka Ward, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria.
According to Daily Trust, the airstrike followed a deadly confrontation between security forces and armed bandits. Earlier, three security personnel—two police officers and an operative of the state-owned Community Watch Corps (CWC)—lost their lives in a fierce gun battle with the bandits.
A local resident, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the incident was linked to the local government elections held on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The bandits had reportedly planned to attack voters in Zakka village.
Upon learning of the attack, security forces moved swiftly to thwart the plan, leading to a violent exchange of gunfire. In the shootout, a police officer and a CWC operative were k!lled on the spot, while a third police officer, who sustained injuries, later d!ed.
“It was after this clash that a military fighter jet, likely sent for reinforcement, dropped a bomb on Yauni community, south of Zakka. Tragically, six members of a family lost their lives, while one woman sustained injuries,” the source disclosed.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, with residents calling for a thorough investigation into the unintended civilian casualties.
