Clash of Giants in Saudi Arabia as Tyson Fury Takes on Francis Ngannou

Tyson Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou are gearing up for an explosive showdown in Saudi Arabia on October 28th 2023.

Fury, one of boxing's reigning heavyweight champions, has been on the lookout for a new opponent since his dominant victory over Derek Chisora at Wembley Stadium last December. Despite previous failed attempts to secure a fight with Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, Fury has now turned to Ngannou. It was officially announced on Tuesday that the two fighters will face off in Saudi Arabia, although Fury's WBC title will not be at stake.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting an exhibition match, this clash will be a legitimate boxing bout following the official rules of the sport. Fury is likely to face criticism for opting to step into the ring with an MMA fighter instead of defending his title against one of the top contenders in his division. The highly-anticipated battle with Usyk, which would have determined the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 2000, unfortunately fell through earlier this year.

Expressing his thoughts on the upcoming fight with Ngannou, Fury stated, "As soon as that bell rings, it'll be bombs away! This guy is supposed to be the hardest puncher in the world, but let's see how he reacts when he gets hit by the Big GK. I can't wait to get back out there under the lights." Fury had previously invited Ngannou into the ring at Wembley after his win over Dillian Whyte last year.

Ngannou, on the other hand, eagerly anticipates the opportunity to face Fury. He said, "I've been waiting to meet Tyson in the ring for the past three years. My dream was always to box, and to box the best. After becoming the undisputed MMA Heavyweight Champion, this is my chance to make that dream come true and solidify my position as the baddest man on the planet." Ngannou, who previously reigned as the UFC heavyweight champion for nearly two years, left the company in January and signed a multi-fight deal with the Professional Fighters League in May.

With his MCL and ACL surgically repaired in March, Ngannou is cleared to box as per the terms of his PFL contract. He leaves a stern warning for Fury, saying, "All I will say to Tyson for now is he better dance in that ring because if I touch him, he's going to sleep."

The showdown between these two powerhouses promises to be an epic battle between masters of their crafts. Both fighters are determined to prove their dominance and stake their claim as the greatest fighter of their generation. Fans around the world eagerly await this monumental clash that will take place under the lights in Saudi Arabia.
