Ukrainian Drones Strike Moscow Skyscraper

Image
Drones have targeted an elite office building and residential skyscraper in Moscow, which Russia claims to be an 'attempted terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime'. Explosions tore through several floors of a major office block early on Sunday morning, resulting in screams echoing across the neighborhood. According to Russia's Defence Ministry, they managed to bring down three Ukrainian drones attempting to attack the capital on that Sunday morning. Moscow also alleged that it thwarted a Ukrainian assault on Russia-annexed Crimea using 25 drones overnight. The Crimea region, annexed by Russia in 2014, has faced frequent attacks during Moscow's Ukraine offensive, with intensified strikes in recent weeks, as Kyiv aims to reclaim the territory. The suspected Ukrainian attack on Moscow is seen as retaliation, mirroring the terror inflicted on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during the ongoing war. The Russian defense ministry reported that they destroyed sixteen Ukrainian UAVs

X Logo Officially Replaces Twitter’s Famous Bird On Mobile Application, Building Headquarters

This illustration photo taken on July 24, 2023 shows the Twitter bird logo upside down in the background of Elon Musk’s screen advertising an “X” as a replacement logo, in Los Angeles. X, formerly known as Twitter, has officially retired its famous blue and white bird logo. The icon on the mobile app changed to an “X” late Friday night in the latest phase of a sweeping rebrand the platform’s owner Elon Musk announced earlier this month. The company previously introduced the logo on the web and launched the domain X.com, though Twitter.com also remains live. Musk, who acquired the platform for $44 billion late last year, wrote in a post Sunday that the company would soon “bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” The transition from Twitter to X reflects Musk’s vision to turn the platform into what he has called an “everything app.” He shared a video of a large new X logo glowing on top of the company’s headquarters early Saturday. Juventus Faces Europe Exclusion in the 2023-24 Season

Image
Juventus has been expelled from the upcoming season's Europa Conference League due to breaches of financial fair play regulations. The investigation into both Juventus and Chelsea began during the 2022-23 season, focusing on potential violations of UEFA's Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play rules. In an official statement released today, UEFA confirmed that Juventus had indeed violated its regulatory framework and breached a settlement agreement signed in 2022. As a consequence, the club will be excluded from participating in UEFA competitions in the upcoming season. Additionally, Juventus has been fined 20 million euros (£17.1 million), with half of that amount being conditional. The conditional part of the fine will only be enforced if the club's financial statements over the next three years continue to breach the regulations. On the other hand, Chelsea reached a settlement with UEFA, agreeing to pay 10 million euros (£8.57 million) for "submitting incomplete fin

How Joe Burrow's Injury Affects Fantasy Football: When To Draft Which Backups To Target And How To Treat WRs

Image
Per  Bengals  coach Zac Taylor, quarterback  Joe Burrow  will  miss "several weeks"  of the preseason with  a strained calf suffered in Thursday's practice . Backup quarterbacks  Jake Browning  and  Trevor Siemian  will take multi-day turns leading the offense. And then hopefully that's all we'll see of those guys. The hope is that Burrow's calf strain doesn't linger and puts him back on the field at least one week before the Bengals' Week 1 game on Sept. 10 against the  Browns . And if that's the case, he might be a little slow to acclimate, but by Week 3 against the  Rams  or Week 4 against the  Titans , he should be back to ol' Joe. You know, the guy who averaged 26.3 Fantasy points per game last year. Where some folks see calamity, others see opportunity. Burrow's injury will cool off his popularity in drafts, so much so that we could see all of  Lamar Jackson ,  Justin Fields  and  Justin Herbert  go ahead of him. And that's exac

15 Abandoned Places On Earth That Will Leave You Stunned

Image
There are places on our planet that look like they come directly out of horror stories. It’s interesting to see that certain things and places that once belonged to thriving communities are being taken back by Mother Nature. I guess that’s just the natural order of things, but at least there are some pretty great pictures. Take a look at this amazing collection of abandoned places found on all corners of the Earth. Kolmanskop was home to one of the most well-known diamond mines in recent history. German miners flocked to this city and soon hospitals, schools, and the first tram in Africa were built. As the diamond mine became void of its resources, miners and their families packed up and headed southward near the Orange River where the largest diamond mine known to man became fair game.

Italy's Juventus Excluded From European Competition Next Season

Image
(Reuters) - Juventus will not play in Europe next season after being banned over breaches of UEFA's Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play rules, while Premier League side Chelsea will pay 10 million euros for submitting incomplete financial information, Europe's soccer governing body said on Friday.   The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) opened a formal investigation into Juventus in December, months after the Italian side was among eight clubs that reached a settlement with UEFA for failing to comply with break-even requirements. In a statement on Friday, European soccer's governing body said it would "impose an additional financial contribution of 20 million euros on the club.   "Of this amount, 10 million euros is conditional and will only be enforced if the club's annual financial statements for the financial years 2023, 2024 and 2025 do not comply with the accounting requirements," UEFA added.   Juventus, who qualified for the Conference Le

NATO’s Most Vulnerable Front Line States Face A Rising Russian Threat

Image
RIGA, Latvia — On the day tens of thousands of Russian soldiers stormed into Ukraine last year, U.S. paratroopers from  the 173rd Airborne Brigade , kitted out in full battle gear, landed at the airport here in Latvia — a boots-on-the-ground symbol of Washington’s commitment to defend its most vulnerable NATO allies in Europe. On paper, that commitment has been ironclad since the U.S.-led alliance extended its collective security umbrella guarantee to Latvia and its sister Baltic states, Lithuania and Estonia, almost 20 years ago. In practice, fulfilling that promise would be a nightmare, given the current lack of resources and the rising threat of Russian aggression, which has mounted exponentially. Neither Washington nor its European allies are ready. NATO reckoned drowsily for years with Moscow’s rising threat, then got a wake-up call when Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his ruinous attack on Ukraine 17 months ago. In its annual summit last week, the alliance adopted 4,0

Investigation Finds Commanders Hid Revenue, Snyder Harassed Team Employee

Image
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Outgoing Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder will pay the NFL $60 million as part of  the closing of the sale of his franchise  after a league investigation, conducted by attorney Mary Jo White, concluded that the team withheld revenue it should have shared with other franchises and that Snyder sexually harassed a former team employee. White also found that the Commanders failed to cooperate with her investigation. Snyder agreed to be interviewed last month for the investigation but limited that interview to one hour, according to White’s findings that are detailed in a 22-page document. “I think that the findings speak for themselves,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at a news conference. “We had an obligation to release those publicly. We did. We shared those with the ownership today [and] had a full discussion of that. The findings do speak for themselves. In both cases, particularly with Ms. Johnston, that’s inappropriate. It’s wrong. It doesn’t mat

White House Seeks Help in Finding Missing Soldier Travis King in North Korea

Image
The Biden administration is still trying to find out the health and whereabouts of an American soldier who crossed into North Korea, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday. Private Travis King was last seen a day earlier, sprinting across the border as members of his tour group looked on in shock. North Korea has offered no details of its apparent detention of the 23-year-old cavalry scout with the 1st Armored Division. At her daily briefing, Jean-Pierre was asked if the U.S. knew where he was being held and his health status. 'The White House, Department of Defense, the State Department and the U.N. are all continuing to work together on this matter to ascertain the information ... the questions that you just asked me about his well-being and the whereabouts of private King,' she said. 'We are still gathering all the facts. It is still very early on.' White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said officials had 'reached out' to
