Son sentenced to life in prison for hiring hitman to kill dad over real estate

 

In the end, Sylvester’s life was taken by his own son.

 

Up until the murder of his father, Zottola had been managing all of the properties with his brother Salvatore.

 

“Why? Anthony, my brother, why? What did you do? Dad gave you everything,” said Salvatore during a victim impact statement in court. “What you did to me and dad is unimaginable.”

 

“Zottola had not one, not two, but multiple chances to rethink his deadly intent to murder his own father. He and the others he recruited chose to continue with their savage plot and succeeded. Now, instead of living off his father’s millions, his only payday will be federal prison,” FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll said in a previous statement.

Suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly killed the traditional ruler of Kinnari, a remote village in Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. The brutal attack took place on the night of Friday, August 1, around 9:00 p.m., when the insurgents stormed the village and gunned down the 65-year-old village head, Goni Kinnari, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. Following the incident, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, swiftly mobilised to the area and successfully repelled the attackers. The remains of the slain traditional leader were evacuated to the General Hospital in Damasak, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
