'I'm Thrilled To Be Finally Joining The Family': Alison Hammond Lands A huge New TV Role After BBC Cancelled Plans To Reboot Quiz Show With The Presenter
Alison Hammond has landed a huge new TV role after the BBC cancelled their plans to reboot a quiz show with the presenter at the helm.
The TV personality, 48, will now be a team captain for Rob Beckett's upcoming series, On Demand alongside Josh Widdicombe.
The programme, which is based on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, will see comics, actors and personalities go head-to-head to see who knows the most about TV.
Sky Max announced the panel show earlier this year, and after a successful pilot episode it has now been commissioned for a full series.
Speaking ahead of the show, Alison said: 'This will be my first time working with Sky so I’m thrilled to be finally joining the family.'
She added: 'We all know that I love a bit of telly - when I’m not actually on it, I’m watching it -so I’m going to apply everything I know and have learned over the years and go for the win. Watch out Josh babs!'
It comes after the BBC have reportedly axed plans to reboot game show Friends Like These.
The series had a pilot last month hosted by Alison and Vernon Kay, but bosses have allegedly decided not pursue a full series.
The original series was hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly and then rebooted with Ian Wright.
Speaking to The Sun, a TV insider said: 'Bringing back Friends Like These seemed a no-brainer but bosses felt it wasn’t the right time, as the light entertainment schedule is just so packed.
'It’s no reflection on either Alison or Vernon, who did a sterling job as hosts. There’s hope it could be reignited further down the line.'
The original show saw two groups of real-life pals competed in various games in a bid to win a holiday and lasted for six seasons until 2003.
It's set to be a busy year for Alison who was also recently made the new host of The Great British Bake Off – replacing departing comic Matt Lucas.

The This Morning presenter will join comedian Noel Fielding when the Channel 4 show starts filming this summer.
'Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades. We're laughing just thinking about it,' a source told The Mirror.
Alison will make history as the first non-white host or judge in the programme's 14-year history.
Matt co-hosted the Channel 4 show alongside Noel Fielding since 2020, but he decided his time on the programme had come to an end.
