Japan urges citizens to leave Ethiopia amid mounting tensions

The Japanese government has called on its citizens in Ethiopia to leave amid arising military tensions.

 

Japan Foreign Minister, Yoshimasa Hayashi sounded the warning in a statement, where he also admitted that there had been no reports about Japanese casualties so far.

“It is true that Japan has sent experts from the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense to assess the situation in Ethiopia and collect data.

 

“Currently, commercial flights continue to fly. We urge Japanese citizens to leave this country,” Hayashi said.

 

He said to date, no data about “physical damage” inflicted on Japanese nationals in Ethiopia had been confirmed.

 

Ethiopia is currently facing an outbreak of violence linked to the advance of Tigray People’s Liberation Front rebels, who have been in a military conflict with the central government since 2020, toward the capital of Addis Ababa.

 

The situation prompted several countries to start evacuating their diplomatic missions from Ethiopia, while the government declared a six-month state of emergency in November.

NBA Suspends Canada’s Joshua Primo For 4 Games For Exposing Himself To Women

  The NBA has suspended former San Antonio Spurs guard  Joshua Primo   for four games   ... after it says it found he exposed his private parts to multiple women. The league announced the ban on Friday morning ... saying an investigation into the free agent revealed he had "engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior." NBA officials called his actions "conduct detrimental to the league." Sky Sports' On-Air Mix-Up: Chelsea Players Mistakenly Introduced as Axel Disasi Instead of Noni Madueke in Carabao Cup Semifinal

 Sky Sports were left red-faced after an on-screen graphic mistakenly introduced Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as Noni Madueke on Tuesday night. The pair were both the scoresheet as the Blues thrashed Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final to boo their place at Wembley. But when Disasi spoke to Sky Sports after the game, an on-screen graphic introduced him as Madueke instead. Madueke is four years younger than his Chelsea teammate, plays in a different role and is English, while Disasi is French.
