A 4 year old boy is the lone survivor of a car crash that killed both his parents and his two siblings last week, according to the child’s extended family.

Four-year-old Julian Montano suffered “extensive injuries” after his parents’ vehicle was hit head-on “by a drunk driver traveling the wrong way” in California, US, on Saturday, November 20, the boy’s uncle, Anthony Gonzalez, said in an online fund-raiser.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. local time

“Everybody’s suffering from this,” Gonzales told Sacramento news station KCRA. “This is a giant loss. Four family members at once is too much.”

The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized, according to the report. An official with the California Highway Patrol said it’s too early to confirm whether alcohol was a factor, but said “that’s the assumption.”

Reports say the family had been traveling to the Grand Canyon for Thanksgiving celebration when the accident happened, Gonzalez wrote on the GoFundMe page.

The young boy, Julian is expected to make a full recovery, Gonzalez said. He wrote that the boy’s mother and father, Brittney and Tony, and their children Marianna and Antonio were all killed “instantly.”

“We will never be the same after this and our family is trying desperately to stay strong for Julian,” Gonzalez wrote.

“We have to bury four loved ones that were taken from us way too soon, so Julian has a place to visit his mom, dad, and siblings.”
