Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a significant move within his military leadership, replacing his longtime defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, with a civilian economist, Andrey Belousov. This reshuffle, occurring over two years after the height of Moscow’s conflict with Ukraine, marks a pivotal moment in Russia's military strategy.

Belousov, a civilian with expertise in economics, previously served as the first deputy prime minister. His appointment to the top defense post signals a departure from the traditional military leadership under Shoigu. Despite being relieved of his position, Shoigu remains influential within Putin's administration, transitioning to the role of Secretary of Russia’s Security Council.

The shake-up coincides with Russia’s recent ground assault across borders, notably in the Kharkiv region and Donetsk, amid increased military spending and a call for innovation. Putin's decision reflects a recognition of the evolving nature of warfare and the importance of adapting military strategies accordingly.

Critics have long scrutinized Shoigu's leadership, citing his detachment from the realities of conflict and his handling of resources. The appointment of Belousov suggests a desire for fresh perspectives and a focus on addressing systemic issues within the military.

In his new role, Shoigu will oversee Russia’s military industrial complex, while Belousov brings his economic background to the forefront, emphasizing the need for efficiency and innovation in defense operations.

The reshuffle follows the arrest of one of Shoigu’s close allies on corruption charges, underscoring ongoing challenges within Russia’s defense apparatus.

Former US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper views Putin’s move as indicative of Russia's transition towards a "war economy," suggesting a shift in priorities towards military readiness and modernization. However, concerns persist regarding the effectiveness of Russian military reforms under Shoigu's tenure.

As Russia navigates geopolitical tensions and seeks to assert its military strength, Putin's defense reshuffle signals a strategic recalibration in response to evolving threats and challenges on the global stage.

Characters In BBC’s Documentary On TB Joshua Unknown To Us – Synagogue Church

  The Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) has countered the BBC documentary on the late Temitope Babatunde Joshua, known as TB Joshua, founder of SCOAN. SCOAN described the documentary against TB Joshua as unfounded, and that the characters interviewed in the report were unknown to the church. The church, in a statement signed by its Public Affairs Director, Mr Dare Adejumo, said the statement was aimed at disabusing public minds from the report. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the BBC released a highly controversial and damning documentary on the late TB Joshua on Monday, accusing him of various crimes, including rape, against some members. SCOAN said, “BBC World Services investigative unit, code-named Africa Eye, came out this week with weird and strange episodes of atrocities against the late founder of SCOAN.” It said that to investigate and publish or broadcast reports was a central kernel of journalism, but to do so outside the ethics and fundamental principles

  The NBA has suspended former San Antonio Spurs guard  Joshua Primo   for four games   ... after it says it found he exposed his private parts to multiple women. The league announced the ban on Friday morning ... saying an investigation into the free agent revealed he had "engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior." NBA officials called his actions "conduct detrimental to the league." They did, however, note that they "did not find evidence that he engaged in any sexual or other misconduct apart from these brief exposures." "Primo maintains that his conduct was not intentional," the league said.
