Tragic New York Tour Bus Accident: 1 Fatality, 11 Injured

A tour bus rolled over in Lake George, New York on Friday, killing one and injuring 11 others while closing Interstate 87, New York State Police said.

State police said that the Skyway Coach Line bus was traveling from Montreal at the time of the crash with 23 individuals on board when it rolled over at around 12:50 p.m.

One passenger was killed, one suffered serious injuries and ten others had non-life-threatening injuries—all the injured were taken to area hospitals.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the New York State Police.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday afternoon that a “tour bus with multiple passengers” rolled over between Lake George and Warrensburg, and that state police and the Department of Transportation were onsite “performing rescue operations.”

“I join New Yorkers in praying for all involved in this horrific incident and am grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders,” Hochul said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

In September, another New York bus crash made headlines when two teachers died and multiple students were injured after it flipped into a ravine while carrying students from Farmingdale on Long Island to a band camp in Pennsylvania along Interstate 84.

The incident comes as the state is preparing for a snow storm this weekend that could impact travel. A winter storm warning is in effect for the Lake George area with accumulations of six to 12 inches possible, according to the National Weather Service, which warns that “travel could be very difficult” during the storm.
