American business woman and television personality, Martha Stewart made a 'hard to believe' revelation on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday, January 20.
The 80-year-old entrepreneur claimed that she has been struck by lightning three times and is better for it.
Her revelation came during a segment called “Two Truths and a Lie” where guests make three claims about themselves and the host guesses which is true.
Stewart challenged DeGeneres to guess whether she’d been hit by lightning three times, whether she was going to on the next season of the ABC game show “Shark Tank,” or whether she once did a headstand on DeGeneres’ show, which is in its 19th and final season.
Much to the Ellen's surprise, the claim that Stewart was joining the cast of “Shark Tank.” was the false story.
“I can not believe that — you’ve been struck by lightning three times?” Ellen asked.
“If it doesn’t kill you, I think it’s good for you,” steward responded.
DeGeneres pointed out that it’s an awfully big “if” and asked how such an experience feels.
Stewart, described being hit by lightning as “awful” and recalled the first two thunder strikes.
The first time, she said she was leaning against an iron sink in her home when a lightening bolt hit a pipe in her garden and sent electricity into her home, knocking her to the floor. Her second encounter also happened at home, according to Stewart, who said a lightning bolt came through a skylight and zapped her. It’s unclear what happened the third time.
“I just attract electricity,” Stewart claimed. “I’m so powerful.”
She then surprised the host again when it turned out she had once done a headstand on DeGeneres’ program and that there was video evidence.
The National Weather Service reports that nearly 50 people per year are killed by lightning in the U.S.
