According to sources, the tests show there were no trace of “K2” or synthetic marijuana or any illegal drugs in Hernandez’s system at the time of his death on April 19.
State officials were looking into whether Hernandez used synthetic drugs in the hours before he hanged himself in his cell at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley.
The prison was in lock down last week as correction officers searched for drugs and other contraband following Hernandez's suicide.
According to sources, officers found K2 and several homemade weapons during the prison search.
5 Investigates previously reported that Hernandez had written “John 3:16” on his forehead in ink before his death.
Hernandez also used his own blood to draw on the walls of his cell.
5 Investigates’ Kathy Curran reported that one of the drawings was what’s known as the unfinished pyramid and the all-seeing eye of God. The image is similar to what is found on the back of U.S. currency.
Below the pyramid, Hernandez wrote “ILLUMINATI” in capital letters.
Above the pyramid, Hernandez drew an oval with rays coming from the edges.
Three letters were also found in Hernandez's cell. According to sources, they were addressed to his fiance, his daughter and his attorneys.
5 Investigates learned that in one letter, he wrote that he was entering the “timeless realm” and would see them in heaven.
Hernandez also wrote that he loved his family and told them not to shed a tear.
The state medical examiner has ruled Hernandez’s death as a suicide from asphyxia by hanging.
