Interim manager of the Nigeria men's football team, Augustine Eguavoen, has admitted he is not sleeping well,  ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 56-year-old has been in the job for three weeks after replacing Gernot Rohr and says he's already feeling the heat as football fans expect him to do well despite the shortage of time before the tournament.

Nigeria is in the same group with tournament favorites Egypt, alongside Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau but Eguavoen is in high spirits.

“It’s tough. I don’t sleep well because of expectations, but I know not everybody; how do I put it now.

“There are people out there who want us to succeed, there are few people out there who are also in doubt, but we will do everything humanly possible to stick together – the team – the entire federation, officials.

“And we will do what we can to make sure we put smiles on the faces of Nigerians,” Eguavoen told NFF TV.
