Mission: Impossible 7 Earns Rave Reviews As An 'Impeccably Crafted' And Definitive 'Summer Blockbuster' Post Its Rome World Premiere.

Tom Cruise returns with the latest addition to his beloved Mission: Impossible series, and early reactions suggest that it's poised to captivate audiences.

The world premiere of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One took place in Rome on Monday, leaving critics and fortunate fans who attended the early screening raving on social media.

According to Variety, the premiere screening faced a 90-minute delay as Cruise, now 60 years old, unexpectedly met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The audience grew increasingly frustrated as footage from red carpet interviews at the Auditorium della Conciliazione played on repeat. However, when the man of the hour, accompanied by his long-time collaborator and director Christopher McQuarrie, finally graced the premiere, the audience changed their tune and rewarded their arrival with warm applause. The event also featured many members of the stellar cast, including Hayley Atwell, Cruise's former girlfriend, as well as Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Shea Wigham and Esai Morales.

The audience in Rome couldn't contain their delight when the Eternal City itself appeared on-screen during a particular scene, leading some attendees to cheer for Cruise and exclaim, "Bravo Tom!" at the screen.

This latest installment of Mission: Impossible premiered in the iconic Italian city as part of the Rome Film Festival, as a significant portion of the movie was filmed in the capital.

Early reactions on Twitter overwhelmingly praised the film. Germain Lussier, a writer for Gizmodo and io9, declared the movie "fantastic" and commended its "dynamite, timely story." He also highlighted the excellent new characters, the wide range of action sequences, and a final set piece that ranked among the top 2-3 in the franchise's history.

Erik Davis, from Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes, boasted about having the "absolute best time" watching Cruise's latest film. He emphasized that it was an impeccably crafted action film that never ceased to entertain. Davis described the action sequences as long, intense, and crazy, and appreciated how the story felt complete while leaving audiences eager for what comes next. Film critic Scott Mantz joined the chorus of praise, stating that Dead Reckoning was worth the wait and dubbed it the best entry in the series yet. He lauded the film's great story, incredible cast, and action that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Mantz boldly declared that Cruise had outdone himself, delivering the best action movie of the summer.

Perri Nemiroff of Collider hailed Mission: Impossible 7 as "another winner for the franchise." She marveled at the film's sky-high production value and the well-executed, exhilarating set pieces that made audiences feel immersed in the heart of the action. Nemiroff noted that the emphasis on capturing scenes in-camera made a monumental difference and elevated the experience.

Dorian Parks, from Geeks of Color, suggested that Dead Reckoning might be the greatest installment in the franchise thus far. Parks found the set pieces mind-blowing and the action sequences on a whole new level. According to him, it's a must-see on the largest screen available.

While Jeff Sneider, an entertainment industry reporter, offered praise for Dead Reckoning, he also shared a few qualms. Sneider described the film as "VERY good," though he felt it lacked the emotional depth of Cruise's highly popular sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. He specifically praised the climactic train sequence and the outstanding cast, including Tom Cruise and Shea Wigham. However, he pointed out two minor issues: the villain's backstory and the rushed bond between Ethan (Cruise) and Grace (Hayley Atwell's character).

Nevertheless, Sneider declared the film his new favorite in the Mission: Impossible series. He noted that the film felt like a cautionary tale, with the AI serving as the villain, and the action sequences had his heart rate racing, particularly the mind-blowing train scene.

While early viewers were overwhelmed by Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, the more established critics, known for their discerning tastes, have yet to release their reviews of the film.

Audiences will have the chance to judge for themselves when Cruise's latest blockbuster hits theaters on July 12th.
