Halle Berry Shares Heartbreaking Tribute To Her John Wick Costar Lance Reddick Following His Sudden Death At Age 60: 'Heaven Has Another Angel'

Halle Berry is paying tribute to her John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum (2019) costar Lance Reddick in the wake of his sudden death at the age of 60 on Friday.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress wrote, 'I send my heartfelt condolences to the family and all those who knew and loved Lance. I'll never forget the huge smile and heartfelt hug Lance gave me as I walked on the set of John Wick for the first time.'

She continued, 'His kind, sweet energy lit up every room he was in and his heart was larger than anything in it! Heaven has another angel. You will be missed sweet friend!'

'Lance was taken from us far too soon,' Stephanie Reddick began in the post. 'Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can't begin to express how grateful I am to have them.'

'And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game,' she added, before concluding,'Donations may be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.'

Representatives for Reddick confirmed his passing in a statement to People on Friday, revealing that he had been found dead at his home in Los Angeles earlier in the day.

'Acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes. Lance was best known for his roles in The Wire, Bosch, Netflix's Resident Evil and the John Wick films. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick, the statement read

'Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family's privacy at this time,' it concluded.

Reddick made his professional acting debut in a guest starring role in an episode of the police drama series New York Undercover (1996), which was quickly followed up by another one-episode role in the detective drama Swift Justice (1996).

Two years later, he scored his first film role in the romantic drama Great Expectations (1998), starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ethan Hawke, Hank Azaria, Chris Cooper, Anne Bancroft and Robert De Niro.

He worked consistently in the two mediums until he landed, arguably, his breakout role as Cedric Daniels in the acclaimed HBO series The Wire (2002-2008), which would resulted in 60 episodes over a five season run.

The Academy Award-winning actress was also one of the many people who shared their condolences in her post, via her late husband's Instagram page.

'My love and prayers are with the family at this very sad time. Lance was one of the most sincere people I'd ever met. Truly one of a kind ! RIP sweet king," Berry, 56, commented.

The Wire has been widely hailed as one of the greatest television series of all time.

He went on to play Phillip Broyles, one of the main roles in the Fox science fiction series Fringe (2008-2015) for five seasons.

Many fans also know Reddick for his character Charon in all four of the John Wick films (2014, 2017, 2019, 2023) that stars Keanu Reeves in the title role.

The cast had already kicked-off the press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, ahead of its March 24 wide release in the U.S. when the news broke of Reddick's death.

'We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,' Reeves and the film's director Chad Stahelski shared in a joint statement. 'He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends.'

The duo ended the statement by revealing that they had dedicated this latest sequel 'to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.'

The steady flow of tributes also included reps from Lionsgate, the studio behind John Wick: Chapter 4.

'The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon's humanity and unflappable charisma,' the statement read.

After heaping praise on him for his 'impressive body of work', and describing him as a 'lovely, joyful friend', the statement ended by sharing their 'deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world.'

Lance Reddick leaves behind his wife of over 11 years, Stephanie, and his two children, Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick, from his previous marriage to Suzanne Yvonne Louis.
