The Lagos state police command have arrested a teenager who stole a 3-year-old boy after punching his mother in the Satellite town area of the state on April 12th.
According to the police, the suspect, a 19-year-old identified as Chisom Obiora, allegedly punched the boy’s mother identified as Mrs. Rofiat Ayinde in the face in order to abduct her three-year-old son whilst they were walking along the road.
Her shout for help led to the apprehension of the suspect. When interrogated, the suspect said he only picked the boy so he could show him direction to a place he was going. He denied attempting to kidnap the boy.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana,  said the case of the stolen child was reported at Satellite Police Station.
“The mother of the missing boy reported that her son, Al-ameen Ayinde, was abducted. It was through investigation that Chisom Obiora was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Satellite Police Station, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Chike Oti. The child was rescued unhurt.” Bala said.
