An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a girl, 12, was abducted last week on her way to school before she bravely fought off her attacker.
The girl was on her way to school in the Hunslet area of Leeds on the morning of April 23 when a man dragged her and pulled her into a secluded wooded area (read here). She managed to fight him off then raised alarm.
Police then released a video of a man running over a nearby park, which was filmed by a woman who witnessed the incident.
West Yorkshire Police announced this morning that they have arrested an 18-year-old man, who is currently being questioned.
A police spokesman said today: "Detectives investigating the abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Leeds have arrested a man.
"The 18-year-old, from Leeds, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident in Old Run Road, Hunslet, on Tuesday, April 23.
"He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing. His arrest follows a public appeal for information."
