Residents of Soluyi/Sosanya Community in Gbagada, Lagos State, have reportedly been forced to leave their houses as monkeys in a very large numbers invaded their community.
According to the residents, the monkeys forced their ways into their rooms destroying window and door nets, foodstuffs and other items. Adigun Olaleye, Chairman of the community’s Landlord Association, said the invasion of the monkeys might have been caused by the nearness of the community to a swamp forest that separated the community from Ifako area.
Olaleye said that the monkeys come into houses at anytime, including early morning and gain entrance into rooms even if the houses are locked. Lamenting their frustration to newsmen, the residents maintained that it is impossible for them to withstand the current situation in the community.
