Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Ibrahim, says that making phone calls at petrol stations is a criminal offence that attracts a jail term for anyone found guilty.
According to Punch, Moshood said anyone found making calls or smoking in a petrol station could be prosecuted and jailed for attempted arson. According to the police spokesperson, the Police has the mandate to arrest any defaulter who puts the lives of other Nigerians at risk.
“Making phone calls or smoking at filling stations is a criminal offence and the police, of course, could arrest anyone violating the safety rules put in place to safeguard life and property at the filling stations.” he said.
