THE real name of Game Of Thrones hero Jon Snow may have been revealed online, blowing open all the theories about who he is actually related to.
The curly-haired heartthrob, played by Kit Harington, has only ever been known as Jon Snow, The Bastard of Winterfell, King Crow and Lord Snow, among other nicknames.
But a Reddit post, which claims to have details from an upcoming issue of Empire, claims his name if in fact Jaehaerys Targaryen.
This means he is almost certainly the fabled Prince That Was Promised, and makes it very likely his parents are Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, as fans have been claiming for a long while.
Not only that but it appears he was named after the longest-reining Targaryen king from the novels of George RR Martin.
It also makes him nephew to Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, whose brothers are Viserys and Jon’s apparent father Rhaegar.
Unlike his brother Rhaegar did not have the madness of his father Aerys and was known for his excellent singing voice and harp skills.

This information comes from Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, as he was talking about the moment his character "saw" the truth about Jon's lineage with his time-travelling "green sight".
He said in the interview “Bran’s psychic time-travelling ‘green sight’ revealed the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage and his real name", before adding that the revelations about his name "could change the entire story."
In the finale of series six, a flashback showed Lynna saying to her brother Ned about her son Jon:"His name is [...] If Robert [Baratheon, the first king after Aerys' death] finds out, he'll kill him.
"You know he will. You have to protect him. Promise me, Ned. Promise me."
Though Jon's lineage seems to be pretty clear-cut in online circles, fans will have to wait until series seven starts on July 17 to find out the truth and see what happens to the warrior.
They will also see him meet Daenerys — his rival and now, it seems blood relative — for the first time.
