Erica Mena Removed from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta Following Controversial Onscreen Clash with Co-star Spice Involving Offensive Language

Ericica Mena, aged 35, has been officially terminated from her role on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta due to racist remarks she made against her co-star Spice, aged 41, during an incident that occurred on Wednesday.

The popular VH1 series has confirmed this decision via an official statement on social media, which reads, "The Love & Hip Hop franchise has never shied away from challenging conversations within our community." The statement also announced that viewers would witness the consequences of Erica Mena's remarks in the final three episodes of the season and concluded by stating that she would not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, effective immediately.

This development followed a backlash from fans against the reality television star. The backlash stemmed from an intense argument between the two women, during which Erica referred to Spice as a 'monkey' while they were having a discussion at a restaurant. The dispute escalated to a physical altercation after Spice suggested that Erica's son 'doesn't like' her.

The confrontation quickly escalated, leading to Erica flipping the table and shockingly resorting to racial slurs, such as calling Spice a 'monkey' and expressing that she 'should have died' during a recent near-death experience.

This shocking incident prompted viewers to demand Erica's dismissal on social media. Many viewers perceived it not only as racism but also as colorism, given that Erica is a lighter-skinned Afro-Latina while Spice is a darker-skinned Black Jamaican woman.

The root of the conflict between the two women appears to be related to Erica's divorce from Safaree Samuels. DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for MTV and Erica Mena for further information.

The conflict appears to have started earlier in the episode when Erica expressed her displeasure to Shekinah about Spice taking a photo with her ex-husband Safaree and his rumored new girlfriend, Amara La Negra.

However, Spice separately informed Shekinah that she had talked to Safaree to address his child support issues with Erica. Unexpectedly, she found herself siding with Safaree when he revealed that Erica had made derogatory remarks about Spice to him.

Furthermore, Erica was upset with her ex-husband because she believed he showed more empathy towards Spice regarding her near-death experience with sepsis in 2022 compared to their divorce.

The meeting with Shekinah was intended to help the women resolve their differences, but Spice escalated the situation by accusing Erica of narcissism and prioritizing sympathy for her divorce over more serious concerns. In response to this, Erica lost her temper, flipped a table, and used a racial slur, referring to Spice as a 'blue monkey.'

This offensive term clearly shocked crew members on set. The comparison of Black people to monkeys and primates has a long history of being used as an insulting and degrading stereotype.

Viewers who voiced their opinions on social media demonstrated little sympathy for Erica and condemned her offensive language, rejecting her distress as an excuse for using such inexcusable slurs.
