Nicki Minaj opened up to Joe Budden in a recent interview over the real reason she got butt shots, and it turns out it had a lot to do with the rap industry.

She says, “I was a lot of people’s guinea pig. I was one of the first people to be sh**ted on, on the internet….It wasn’t acceptable to have surgery or anything. At that time, I had never had surgery. I had a** shots.”

She continues, “I kept being around Wayne and them…At that time, Wayne was always talking about big booties. He would have a new chick in the studio every session… So they [women] were his muses, but I was just around them all the time, and I was like the little sister….This is what you’re supposed to look like in the rap culture.”

Budden then asked her if she felt pressured to change her appearance. At first, she said no, then changed her answer and said, Lil Wayne.

“No, they never told me that.. Well, no. I’m lying..I think Wayne and them said stuff sometimes jokingly..But to a young girl or up and coming rapper or anything like that, when it’s from someone like Lil Wayne, it matters. So even if they’re joking, they don’t know that the person that is there in that room with them is not finding it funny.”

In the interview, she said that she and Lil’ Kim should have been on the American Vogue cover by now.

Other topics she addressed were the return of Queen Radio, her pregnancy writer’s block, and a documentary.
