The world’s oldest man has died in the small Spanish village where he spent most of his 113 years.

Francisco Núñez Olivera, born in December 1904, died Monday night at his home in Bienvenida, north of Seville, the town of about 2,000 people confirmed on Tuesday.
“He died with the affection of his family and the love of his family and with the admiration of all his countrymen,” Bienvenida’s authorities wrote on Facebook, adding that a funeral will be held in the afternoon.
Though the destruction of his birth records in the Spanish Civil War makes certainty difficult, he is believed to have become the world’s oldest man after the death of Polish-Israeli Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal in August.

ISWAP Insurgents Assassinate Village Head In Borno State, Nigeria

Suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly killed the traditional ruler of Kinnari, a remote village in Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. The brutal attack took place on the night of Friday, August 1, around 9:00 p.m., when the insurgents stormed the village and gunned down the 65-year-old village head, Goni Kinnari, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. Following the incident, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, swiftly mobilised to the area and successfully repelled the attackers. The remains of the slain traditional leader were evacuated to the General Hospital in Damasak, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
